Dr Zhang Yongzhen
Dr Zhang received his PhD from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998, and has since worked at the China CDC in Beijing, and the Shanghai Public Health Clinic Center. He performed epidemiological research into the control and prevention of rabies and hemorrhagic fever. Today, Zhang studies virus diversity, evolution, ecology, and transmission. In early 2020, Dr Zhang studied and then shared the genetic makeup of Covid-SARS-19 so enabling research to be quickly conducted in many locations and in a relatively short time, leading to the development of many vaccines.
